Crafteroo’s 1st birthday!

Second blog post of the day, and it’s not even 9am! I just wanted to let you know that there is a competition over on Crafteroo to celebrate the 1st birthday of the forum. There are prizes for referring new members and also for the new members that have been referred.

I’d recommend signing up anyway, I’ve been there almost from day one as a moderator and find it really useful as well as entertaining at times! Most members are UK based, but it’s open to international members. Winning new members will be selected at random, all you have to do is make at least 5 posts to qualify for the prize draw. Details on prizes can be found on this forum thread: http://www.crafteroo.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=4165.0 and you can also have a little look around as a guest before signing up to see what it’s all about if you so wish.

Be sure to say pennydog referred you if you decide to come on over!

Pay it forward!

I took part in a PIF (pay it forward) swap with Molly from Blackberry Crafts (www.blackberrycrafts.co.uk) and received these lovely goodies!

There is a hot drink holder (which I’ve been wearing as a bracelet), some fingerless gloves and a button brooch. In return, I have to offer my readers a similar deal!

So if you’d like a free PennyDog product, please post here! The only condition is that if you are picked as one of my 3 recipients, you in turn need to blog a PIF of your own, and send something to 3 of your readers…

So, hands up! I will pick 3 people at random on 19th June.

Competition Winner Announced!

I was quite torn to choose between some of the entries, so I’d like to thank Torya and sliceoforganiclife, as they were in my favourites- consider yourself Highly Commended!

But the winner is….

Laura!

So the new name will be Rothley Craft Farm, with the slogan “Free range contemporary and classic crafts”- thanks very much Laura! I’ll blog what I send as the prize and be in touch shortly to ask what her favourite colour is…

Actually, I may have to ask Laura to design my logo for this too as she does some excellent illustrations- see her work at http://www.glueandglitter.co.uk

Thanks to all for your help!

199 post giveaway!

I’ve had 199 posts in under a year and to celebrate I’m having a giveaway! Rather than wait until I’ve had 200 posts, I need your help in solving a problem that’s been going around my head this afternoon…

For your chance to win, I need a comment on this post with a suggestion for a name for my craft workshops. These workshops will run in evenings and weekends and teach a variety of crafts and skills by a variety of skilled tutors, from my farmhouse home in rural(ish) Leicestershire. I was thinking Rothley Contemporary Crafts, but ideally I’d like a mix of contemporary and traditional, so that won’t work. I also want a name that says what I do, so calling it “The Craft Atelier” isn’t hugely obvious to Joe Public. So I need your suggestions, from the simple and obvious, to wacky and original! The winner will be judged by myself based on the best name suggested, and who knows, I might just use it!

The prize will be tailored to the winner, based on their favourite colours, hobbies, etc, but you are guaranteed a piece of jewellery, some sweeties and some craft materials (if you craft) inside a lovely PennyDog tote bag! *cue OOOOH from the audience*

The competition is open for a week, so you have until midnight Thursday 4th June (GMT) to get commenting, and a winner will be announced shortly after- good luck!

Magazine and giveaway winner

I bought Beads and Beyond (Issue 15) today, my tutorial is on page 30-31! I could have been happier with the photo taken to illustrate it, but it’smy first published piece, so chuffed :D Here’s a quick snap of the article (I’ve no idea what that big “2″ means) and the piece you can learn to make:

Spotlight on… KittyHawke

As part of the Sweet Figments huge Christmas giveaway (http://sweetfigments.blogspot.com), the participants (including myself) write a blog entry about the next person in line. I was featured today, and tomorrow is the turn of KittyHawke (http://KittyHawke.etsy.com). KittyHawke is actually a small collective of artists of Celtic heritage whose focus is on ritualistic items and talismans. I particularly like the porcelain pendant, but also enjoy the sterling silver pieces too.

Don’t forget to enter the November giveaway here: http://pennydog.wordpress.com/2008/10/31/november-giveaway/

We have a winner!

This morning I did the draw to see who won the ice ring in my competition that was announced earlier this month. I took out duplicate messages and additional comments that weren’t classed as entries and there were 81 in total (thanks guys!). Random.org chose comment 33, which is Mary from http://daintyprettythings.etsy.com ! Mary will receive a ring similar to the picture below (they all come out slightly different in the process) in the post soon!

Thanks for all your help with my research to all those who entered. Keep your eye out for another giveaway from another Etsy seller in the first week of November!
