PennyDog exclusive resin bezels!

Coming very soon are these new bezels for resin jewellery! I designed them and then had them prduced in black acrylic, with white versions expected a little later this year depending on how well received these are! They are 5mm deep, so brilliant for embedding more than just fabric and paper.

You also get a template with each one so you can accurately cut paper to go inside, simply draw around the shape and cut just inside of the line.

They are laser cut and then I assemble them by hand. Leave me a comment if there’s a particular shape you would like to see made and it might just happen!

This little square is 1.5cm wide, I plan to sell these as a bracelet kit with 5 pieces, a toggle clasp and jump rings for £7.20, or individual pieces for £1.50 each.

These stars and hearts are 2 inches wide and make very cute pendants. I plan to sell these for £2.20 each.

I only received these samples today and I was so impatient that I didn’t seal the paper in these properly and the glue probably wasn’t completely dry so it went white, so please excuse the rubbishness of these examples and pretend they are really good 😉

Special offer, new bracelet, oh and a new shop!

I have a few little bits to tell you- firstly and most importantly, I have 25% off EVERYTHING at www.pennydog.com until 13th July, so go have a look and maybe treat yourself 😉 The discount code for checkout is sherbet

Here’s my new favourite item at the minute- they take quite a while, but is made up of realistic but resin gummy teddies- loads of people thought they were the real thing this weekend!

Also I can now confirm that my supply shop is officially open on Folksy and stocked with ribbons! make sure you bookmark http://pennydogsupplies.folksy.com !

Here are some of the pretties you will find there right now:

Make 50: Week 46

This week’s make is a submission for the Upcycle Christmas competition run by Folksy. The Carnaby bangle is made with plastic beads from a charity shop and will go up for auction for Sue Ryder Care in a few weeks time.

On another note I am at Bungalows and Bears in Sheffield this Saturday afternoon selling my wares, and also at Rawlins Community College, Quorn, Leicestershire on Sunday if you wanted to pop in!

Custom order part 4: now finished

I always seem to finish these stages at night when photo taking is rubbish as flash is pretty compulsory!

I made the little silver pieces on Monday night and fired them on Tuesday morning, then distressed them with liver of sulphur and a wire brush. Then the findings finally arrived so I could finish putting everything together…

This is a heart containing horse hair on an 18″ sterling silver chain with little name tag, and hair in a lozenge of resin on sterling silver chain made into a bracelet with small “K” tag. The only thing I would have liked is to have found a neater finding for the two ends of the lozenge- they’re quite big but the jumprings I had were too round to go through the hole at each side, and when I tried to form them for this purpose they were too weak for use in a bracelet.  The other clamps I had were too small so I didn’t have a lot of option 😦

I just hope the chain isn’t too thick as the lady they are for likes more delicate chains. It is 6mm round chain and the thinnest “bracelet” chain I could find!

This is a more casual jewellery set- a teardrop of resin with red glass bead and ashes embedded. It is on a 26″ grosgrain ribbon with (mostly) sterling silver findings. There’s a britannia silver name tag on that too and it also has a small red glass bead added alongside it. The bracelet to match is again ashes and glass bead, but is attached to a band made from cord. Quite pleased with this one as the findings were easier to source and worked well despite this being my first cord bracelet (maybe I’ll make more?). The also has a “K” tag and a glass bead dangle.

Custom order part 3 and your help needed please!

The horse hair and ashes custom order is nearly complete, I just need to swap some of the findings for sterling silver ones when they arrive (hopefully today) and make the silver name bits. I think I should be able to add the full name to the pendants, but a small initial might be better for the bracelets.

I cast a block of resin in bands and then cut it and sanded it with the bands going across the ring. However I now think it looks a bit plain and is lacking something. Any ideas? Do you think I should sell them in sets of 3? They won’t be very cheap because of all of the sawing and drilling and sanding involved, so hoping there’s a way of selling them individually still. Maybe I should just make them thicker?

Make 50: Weeks 41 and 42…. and um… 20.

I’ve been trying to figure out why I had a picture missing in my Make 50 set on Flickr. Turns out I jumped from Week 19 to 21. Oops. So here’s three new things to share…

Gardening cufflinks

Glitter cuff (not available for sale as has been sent off for secret project)

Haberdashery paperweight

Only 8 more to go 🙂 In other news I am working on my own range of moulds, just hoping the quotes for production aren’t too scary! I will also be selling more unusual colour of dye in a new Etsy shop as well as on www.pennydog.com

There’s still a bit of time to sign up for the first Rothley Craft Farm workshops too, including the resin jewellery workshop with me! Have a look at www.rothleycraftfarm.com for more information!

Make 50: Week 39 and 40

Last week I made this bracelet and additional charm as a custom order with horse hair and silver stamped plaques.

These hairsticks were made this week and are now available in my Folksy shop.

Make 50: Week 35 and 36

Another Heart on Sleeve bracelet for you this time, and I’ve also had a play with some tiny bezels to make “charm” style necklaces.

Thank you Miya, Make 50: Week 20 and other stuff…

Sorry this post has been a while in the making- my laptop spectacularly broke and I’ve been working on articles and other stuff as well as going to unsuccessful craft fairs!

Firstly, the garden swaps should all have been dispatched by now, so if you haven’t got your package, you should expect it quite shortly, and please share photos on the Flickr group here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1121311@N21/pool/!

I didn’t photograph mine, so hoping Miya will do when they arrive (any day now!), but here’s what she sent me!

From left to right… Four little stitched notecards- I love these, very simple and useful for everything… A little fition book based around real life photos with a Gocco printed cover (I think- Miya please clarify this one for me I’m a bit dumb!)… A green pouch with seeds as an interesting spin on the edible part of the swap… a biiiig floral bag, perfect for all my kitchen miscellanea… Some fabric to add to my ever increasing collection of interesting designs and some earwires which are always useful!

Thank you Miya!

For my make last week (yes I need to blog another later this week) I actually finished a couple of Heart on Sleeve cuffs. They are completely handstitched, edging, buttonholes and all. If you’re subscribed to my newsletter, you probably know this already, but they are a new bracelet concept, here’s the official spiel:

“Wear your heart on your sleeve with a new concept bracelet from PennyDog. This bracelet is made from fabric and backed with felt and designed to fit snugly around the wrist like a shirt cuff. This cuff will fit a wrist circumference measurement of 15cm. The cufflinks are interchangeable with others in the series and create a snug fastening.”

Only available at www.pennydog.com

I also have some new stuff in the shop, so keep your eye out as I’m currently going through a phase of adding new, here’s a few new bits…

And I should probably introduce you to Fletcher, Penny’s great-nephew, who has joined the ever increasing number of animals. Now we live in a bigger house we can have two dogs, though he has caused quite a lot of strife in the two weeks we’ve had him in the form of peeing, vomiting, jumping, stealing, running away for miles- and I haven’t even paid for him yet! Luckily he gets on with the Penz fine!

Spotlight on… Dier Designs

I haven’t done one of these for a little while, so thought it would be an opportune moment to introduce to you Dier Designs (http://Jleareid.etsy.com), quite a new shop on Etsy, from a user who has been registered on the site a little while. I love the combination of clay and glass to make these bracelets!
