The site is back!

http://www.pennydog.com is back up and running and I have a lot to do to update it, but it’s fully functional now and all of the products that were originally on sale are there. I have some new resin to add to the supplies section and a few more pieces of jewellery to upload, so keep your eyes peeled to the “new products” section!

To celebrate I am giving away a £15 gift voucher in a giveaway ending midnight on Sunday 11th July. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post and that counts as an entry, alternatively (or additionally for an extra entry!) if you use Twitter you can tweet the following:
RT @pennydog http://www.pennydog.com is back open for business!

That’s it, no catches 🙂 I will announce the winner on monday.

UK Etsy Challenge

Every month, a craft challenge is run on Flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/uketsychallenge/ with a theme for each month. The idea is simple, you make something (anything!) as long as it fits that month’s theme, upload it to the Flickr group and then a poll is run on Etsy to decide the winner.

My entry for Childhood Memories earlier in the year

My entry for "Childhood Memories" earlier in the year

Rather appallingly, no one enterred last month, so hopefully there will be a surge of entries this month to make up for it, it would be a great shame to lose the group as it has been running for a couple of years now. The only condition for entry is that it’s for UK crafters with an Etsy shop.

This month’s theme is “London” and I have an idea to make a cuff bracelet already! Come and join us!

Crafteroo’s 1st birthday!

Second blog post of the day, and it’s not even 9am! I just wanted to let you know that there is a competition over on Crafteroo to celebrate the 1st birthday of the forum. There are prizes for referring new members and also for the new members that have been referred.

I’d recommend signing up anyway, I’ve been there almost from day one as a moderator and find it really useful as well as entertaining at times! Most members are UK based, but it’s open to international members. Winning new members will be selected at random, all you have to do is make at least 5 posts to qualify for the prize draw. Details on prizes can be found on this forum thread: http://www.crafteroo.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=4165.0 and you can also have a little look around as a guest before signing up to see what it’s all about if you so wish.

Be sure to say pennydog referred you if you decide to come on over!

Laura’s Prize

Laura has told me that her goody bag has arrived so now I can share the content with you! For naming “Rothley Craft Farm” in the competition a few posts back she received…

A PennyDog tote bag, a kryptonite resin ring, tomato stud earrings, a scrabble tile pendant, packet of star magnets, butterfly stickers, 2 wooden buttons and 2 shell buttons and some PennyDog stickers and pin badges!

Competition Winner Announced!

I was quite torn to choose between some of the entries, so I’d like to thank Torya and sliceoforganiclife, as they were in my favourites- consider yourself Highly Commended!

But the winner is….

Laura!

So the new name will be Rothley Craft Farm, with the slogan “Free range contemporary and classic crafts”- thanks very much Laura! I’ll blog what I send as the prize and be in touch shortly to ask what her favourite colour is…

Actually, I may have to ask Laura to design my logo for this too as she does some excellent illustrations- see her work at http://www.glueandglitter.co.uk

Thanks to all for your help!

199 post giveaway!

I’ve had 199 posts in under a year and to celebrate I’m having a giveaway! Rather than wait until I’ve had 200 posts, I need your help in solving a problem that’s been going around my head this afternoon…

For your chance to win, I need a comment on this post with a suggestion for a name for my craft workshops. These workshops will run in evenings and weekends and teach a variety of crafts and skills by a variety of skilled tutors, from my farmhouse home in rural(ish) Leicestershire. I was thinking Rothley Contemporary Crafts, but ideally I’d like a mix of contemporary and traditional, so that won’t work. I also want a name that says what I do, so calling it “The Craft Atelier” isn’t hugely obvious to Joe Public. So I need your suggestions, from the simple and obvious, to wacky and original! The winner will be judged by myself based on the best name suggested, and who knows, I might just use it!

The prize will be tailored to the winner, based on their favourite colours, hobbies, etc, but you are guaranteed a piece of jewellery, some sweeties and some craft materials (if you craft) inside a lovely PennyDog tote bag! *cue OOOOH from the audience*

The competition is open for a week, so you have until midnight Thursday 4th June (GMT) to get commenting, and a winner will be announced shortly after- good luck!

Giveaway and Make 50: Week 7

Here’s my make for this week- some finished earrings with embedded moss. I will have these at the Remade Fashion Fair this Saturday at the Custard Factory, where I am showing my jewellery made from recycled materials and also found objects.

This week there is a twist to showing off my make- I’m offering it as a giveaway! To enter, leave a comment below linking to your favourite item for sale in the Crafteroo Comic Relief shop which can be found here: http://crafterooshop.folksy.com

The winner will be drawn on 1st March at random. Good luck!

Folksy Angels

Continuing the recycling theme from yesterday… I love competitions, especially ones that require a bit of thought. Folksy and We Make Christmas (which I will be demonstrating at) have got together to make a quickie competition (entries must be in by 30th November- yikes!) where you have to make a christmas decoration all or mostly made from bits and pieces found around the home that would otherwise be thrown away. It’s an interesting idea, but feel it might be a little tricky! I do have an idea though and I will share it with you when it’s done- if it works!

The winner gets free Folksy listings and no commission for a year, and as things are going well for me on there at the moment, it could be just what I need!

If you want to enter, the Flickr group where you need to post your photo and also has a comprehensive list of rules and what-not is here: http://flickr.com/groups/963614@N22/

Don’t forget to enter the November giveaway here: https://pennydog.wordpress.com/2008/10/31/november-giveaway/

I am taking part in NaBloPoMo (National Blog Post Month), so I will be blogging every day in November. Today is post 12! http://www.nablopomo.com/

November Giveaway!

This month’s giveaway is sponsored by Musette of http://musettemade.etsy.com, whose work has a retro feel to it and often incorporates vintage findings and centrepieces. Up for grabs are these gloriously long earrings:

Faceted vintage glass rounds and shimmery white shell paired with antiqued brass chain and earwires. Hangs a dramatic 3 1/4 inches from your earlobe!

To be in with a chance of winning, all you need to do is leave a comment on this thread with a piece of advice you would offer her on improving her shop, marketing or anything related. The winner will be picked at random on Saturday 15th November, good luck!

Here’s a few little pics to get you excited about http://musettemade.etsy.com before you leave this page! Enjoy!
