We Make Christmas

wemaketable

I did my demo at We Make London, and it was well received. It was quite nervewracking, but it’s good experience, hopefully I’ll be asked to do something similar in the future. I demonstrated what you need, and the differences between materials, then how to make a pair of swirled dye earrings. If you’d like a copy of the handout by e-mail, please let me know!

I also took the opportunity to buy a few more things, I treated myself to this bracelet by Poor Robin (http://poorrobin.etsy.com) and have worn it constantly since!

I also bought this little notebook from Pink Swizzlestick (http://www.pinkflamingoswizzlestick.com) and a pretty polymer clay necklace from Natty Jewels (http://www.nattyjewels.co.uk/) for my sister.

Folksy Angels

Continuing the recycling theme from yesterday… I love competitions, especially ones that require a bit of thought. Folksy and We Make Christmas (which I will be demonstrating at) have got together to make a quickie competition (entries must be in by 30th November- yikes!) where you have to make a christmas decoration all or mostly made from bits and pieces found around the home that would otherwise be thrown away. It’s an interesting idea, but feel it might be a little tricky! I do have an idea though and I will share it with you when it’s done- if it works!

The winner gets free Folksy listings and no commission for a year, and as things are going well for me on there at the moment, it could be just what I need!

If you want to enter, the Flickr group where you need to post your photo and also has a comprehensive list of rules and what-not is here: http://flickr.com/groups/963614@N22/

I am taking part in NaBloPoMo (National Blog Post Month), so I will be blogging every day in November. Today is post 12! http://www.nablopomo.com/

We Make Christmas, Twitter and Etsy Front Page

Just a quick update to say that I will be demonstrating how to make these earrings at We Make Christmas, The American Church, Tottenham Court Road in London on December 6th. My time slot is 2.30pm until 4pm, so feel free to come along and say hi, and watch the demonstration of how I make these from start to finish. I will also be adding my work to a demonstrators showcase, and there will be a wealth of talented designers and makers selling their goods. For more information, please see http://wemakelondon.blogspot.com/

I’m on Twitter and have been for a while now. It’s a way of keeping in touch with people, finding out what they are doing, and also sharing what you are currently doing. If you would like to “follow” me and get my updates, click this link to add me http://twitter.com/pennydog . You can also sign up by following the link too!

Finally, in keeping with the swirled dye jewellery theme, my bangle was on the Etsy front page yesterday which was fun. The screen grab is on my work computer, but here is the bangle in question! Available here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=16166119
